Sayres and Associates Signs Lease at 55 M Street in Washington, D.C.

October 20, 2009

Sayres and Associates – a government-services contractor providing services to the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies – is moving its corporate headquarters to 55 M Street, a nine-story office building in Washington, D.C., that was completed earlier this year.

With 279,000 square feet of office space and 14,000 square feet of retail space, 55 M Street serves as the first phase of Half Street, a dynamic, mixed-use development located one block north of Nationals Park that ultimately will include multifamily residential units, additional retail space and a hotel.

The recently completed office building itself was built directly above the Navy Yard Metro station, which provides light-rail access to points throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

MacFarlane Partners has invested in the development of 55 M Street and much of the rest of the Half Street project through a joint venture with Monument Realty, a full-service real estate firm based in Washington, D.C. MacFarlane Partners made the investment on behalf of MacFarlane Urban Real Estate Fund II, its institutional real estate fund that invests in development, redevelopment and repositioning projects in urban and high-density suburban areas nationwide.

Sayres and Associates will occupy 20,000 square feet within 55 M Street, which has been certified as a LEED-Gold facility under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.
