As managing principal and president, Greg Vilkin directs MacFarlane Partners’ investments and development groups and is involved in sourcing and negotiating prospective investments as well as in cultivating strategic relationships with real estate operating and development companies and other market participants. He serves on both the investment and senior management committees.
Career Overview
Greg has 32 years of real estate investment, development and management experience, during which he has developed more than 10,000 multifamily residential units, over seven million square feet of commercial space, and over 10,000 acres of master-planned communities. A nationally recognized authority on affordable housing, he has worked extensively in developing affordable housing and revitalizing urban neighborhoods through public/private partnerships.
Past Experience
Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, Greg had worked in various capacities since 1990 for Forest City Enterprises, a publicly held real estate operating and development company with assets nationwide. For more than 10 years, he served as president of Forest City’s residential real estate businesses that operated in the western United States – Forest City Residential West and Forest City Stapleton. The two businesses developed and owned a wide range of residential properties, including market-rate, affordable, student and military housing; high-density urban apartments and condominiums; and mixed-use properties.
Under his leadership, Forest City Stapleton undertook the nation’s largest urban redevelopment project, working in a public/private partnership to transform the former Stapleton International Airport in Denver into a master-planned community consisting of more than 12,000 homes and 10 million square feet of commercial and retail space.
