About MacFarlane

John Green is responsible for MacFarlane Partners’ investment activities on the East Coast, which include sourcing, underwriting, negotiating and closing property investments, as well as cultivating business relationships with real estate operating/development companies and other market participants. He also oversees the construction process of development and redevelopment projects that are undertaken by the firm and its joint-venture partners on the East Coast.


Career Overview

John has eight years of real estate and finance experience, during which he has been involved with approximately $3 billion in commercial, multifamily residential and mixed-use properties in the greater Washington, D.C., area; Baltimore; San Francisco; and other major metropolitan areas within the United States.

Past Experience

Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, John worked in the real estate development group of The Community Builders, a non-profit developer and operator of affordable housing; and as an investment banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he helped assess and execute merger-and-acquisition and corporate-finance transactions. He also managed the business-development efforts of Black Entertainment Television (BET), a subsidiary of Viacom Inc.
